This policy outlines how FibreTel handles requests from law enforcement agencies for customer data or network information. Spoiler: unless you have a court order, we’re not talking.
FibreTel takes customer privacy seriously. We do not share, sell, or voluntarily disclose customer information to third parties, including law enforcement agencies, without proper legal authorization.
We will only respond to requests for customer information that are accompanied by a valid Canadian court order or other lawful authority issued under Canadian law (e.g., a production order under the Criminal Code).
There are no exceptions. If law enforcement believes there is sufficient evidence to request information, they are expected to follow the legal process and obtain the correct documentation.
Law enforcement agencies must submit all requests via email to our designated legal contact. Requests must:
Requests that do not meet these criteria will be ignored.
We understand that life-threatening emergencies happen. That said, even in emergencies, we require a formal legal basis to release any information. If the situation is truly urgent, contact your legal counsel and a judge — not us directly. We’ll be happy to cooperate once the paperwork’s in place.
For general inquiries (not formal legal requests), please contact us at fibretel.ca/contact.
