This policy outlines how we manage network traffic, what we consider fair use, and how we handle the rare cases when someone tries to run a data centre from their living room (please don’t).
FibreTel is committed to a fast and reliable experience for all users. Here’s what we do (and don’t do) to maintain network performance:
We don’t mess with your bandwidth unless we absolutely need to in order to maintain service quality for everyone.
We believe in big usage allowances—but even “unlimited” has limits. Here’s what counts as fair use:
Our goal isn’t to limit you—just to make sure everyone has a good experience.
If your plan is labelled “unlimited,” that means we don’t cap your data or charge overage fees. However, all usage must still fall within the boundaries of reasonable residential use as outlined above.
FibreTel prohibits the use of our network for malicious activity. That includes, but isn’t limited to:
If we detect abuse, we may warn you, throttle your connection, or suspend service depending on the severity.
We do not discriminate based on application, protocol, destination, or content. FibreTel is a net-neutral ISP, and we believe your connection should work the way you want it to (as long as it’s legal).
Have concerns about network performance or this policy? Reach out to us at fibretel.ca/contact. We’ll be happy to clarify, investigate, or explain things in English (and maybe a bit of geek).
